We will arrive in the Munich airport and be greeted by our skillful and lovable bus driver, Hansi.  Hansi has safely escorted Alpenfest Tours on each of the past 22 tours.  We’ll board a comfortable Mercedes bus and travel to the quaint village of Werfen.  We will have the afternoon free in Werfen to relax or explore the town.

One of the highlights of the tour will be a quiet ride across the beautiful Königssee lake.  Our boat ride will pause briefly and you will be captivated by the glorious resonance of an Alphorn performed in the Alps.  Along the shores of the Königssee, we will have time to visit the picturesque St. Bartolomä Chapel and take a leisurely stroll around the grounds. Next, we will see what has made this area of Austria so famous—SALT.  Dressed in white miner's clothing, we will descend into a salt mine  by train and slides, where a guide will explain the history of salt and mining.

Herrenchiemsee is the first of three King Ludwig II castles that we will visit during the tour.  It is the largest of the castles constructed by King Ludwig II and is located on an island.  You will be treated to a pleasant boat ride across the Herrenchiemsee lake for a castle tour.  Later in the day, we will visit the famous Silent Night chapel in Oberndorf, Austria.

The most famous city in the Austrian Alps is Salzburg.  We will have plenty of free time in Salzburg for shopping and sightseeing. You may want to tour Mozart's birth house or museum.  In the afternoon, the group will meet for a Sound of Music Tour.

Our morning adventure will take us up to Kehlsteinhaus. This historical house was most famous during World War II as the Eagle's Nest.  In the afternoon, we will have time for shopping and sightseeing in Berchtesgaden.
